How to... Record |
 |
- To begin a new recording press the "R" key on you computer's keyboard or the record button on the button block; as you do it will turn red and Recording begins immediately. As you talk a red wave form scrolls across the edit window. Mode Window will indicate Recording.
- Once you have created and named a recording you can insert a recording anywhere into any existing recording including the one you just created. Position the wave form under the vertical line in the edit window (cue point) at the point you want to begin the inserted recording To begin an insert record press the "I" key on the keyboard. When you are finished with an insert recording either press the space bar or the "I" key again. Notice that the entire inserted recording is highlighted. This allows you to delete and do over the entire insert without having to highlight it manually. In other words you can do it until you get it right.
Insert record is a powerful tool allowing you to add recorded sections, one after another, to build a podcast or go in and surgically replace audio you aren't happy with.
- Mixing is accomplised by getting the right level with your microphone and other volume sliders. To help you with this refer to the VU meter. Once your the mic level is set press one of the deck or cart buttons that has music assigned to it and note the level on the VU meter. If you want to talk over music you should adjust the volume of your player slider so the music level is less than the mic. You can adjust this slider on the fly to keep the music volume lower so you can talk over the music or have the music volume louder than your mic as you think appropriate.
